Armed Forces Day is observed

Downtown Junction City was the site for an Armed Forces Day celebration on Saturday. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran expressed appreciation for the men and women of Fort Riley and thanked them for their service.

Moran talked about ensuring Fort Riley has a bright future plus a desire to be helpful to this community and the Soldiers. He pointed to the fight to serve the American way of life and ensure that freedom is never compromised.

Other activities included remarks by Fort Riley Garrison Commander Col. Gerald Nunziato Jr., performances by the 1st Infantry Division Rock Band and M31, along with a static display of military vehicles, appearance by DJ Dan and Main Street Market vendors.

The U.S. Army has been in existence 250 years and Fort Riley for 172 consecutuve years.
