K-State will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a week of campus events. They begin with an MLK Day of Service on Jan. 22nd. Partnerships will include Hope Ranch Therapeutic Riding, Manhattan Public Library, Manhattan Crisis Center, Manhattan Emergency Shelter, Goodwill, USD 383 FIT Closet and Ogden Friendship House of Hope.
The 18th annual Diversity Student Leader Reception will be held Jan. 24th from 5:30 - 7 p.m. in Waters 231 and via Zoom at 972 0061 3215.
Commerce Bank and W. T. Kemper Foundation Presidential Awards for Diversity are scheduled from 3:30 - 5 p.m. on Jan. 25th in the Alumni Center Ballroom.
The 8th annual Civil Rights Teach-In is scheduled Jan. 26th from 2:30 -5 p.m. at a Leadership Studies Town Hall.
On Jan. 27th events include the virtual MLK Presidential Lecture from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., "Celebrating Local Black Entrepreneurs" a College of Business Administration lecture from 4-5 p.m. at CBB 1088. There will be a virtual event titled Let's Talk Art: Considering the dance film "Martin" by Gordon Parks from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., and the film screening of "Brother Outsider" from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the Big 12 Room of the Student Union.
Friday, Jan. 28th will the annual Brown Bag Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bluemont Room of the Student Union. Also on that day will Laying of the Wreaths and Candlelight Ceremony at at 1:30 p.m. at the Student Union Courtyard and at the MLK bust in front of Ahearn Field House.
