Beverly J. (Luthi) Montgomery passed away May 8,2024, in Junction City, Kansas.
She was born on January 22, 1930, to Albert Jr. and Minnie (Kohler) Luthi at their home in rural Wakefield, Kansas. She attended elementary schools at Timber Creek, Alida and Wakefield. Beverly graduated from Wakefield Rural High School in 1947 and attended both Kansas State University and Emporia State Teacher’s College. She graduated from Kansas State University with both a B.S. and M.S. in Education.
Beverly married Robert George Montgomery of Junction City on May 7, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters: Arlene Daley, Bernice Sherbert, Evelyn Bergmeier, and Jaunita McKee, and five brothers: Emeal, Evans, Herman, Dale and Arvid Dean Luthi.
Beverly taught in the Geary County/Junction City School System for 39 years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Kansas Retired Teachers Association, the Wakefield Museum and the First United Methodist Church of Junction City.
She is survived by her two sons: Robert George II and wife Nancy of Fort Collins, Colorado and Howard Albert and wife Patricia of Topeka, Kansas; her four grandchildren: Howard John, Susan Jennifer, Bradley Garnett and Andrew Michael Montgomery, and her three great grandchildren: Opal, Otis, and Sienna Montgomery. She is also survived by Dean’s wife Vivian Luthi of Overland Park, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Beverly chose to be cremated and graveside services will be held on June 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Highland Cemetery in Junction City, next to her husband Bob.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Women Nimble Fingers in Junction City, the Wakefield Museum, or the Clay Center Zoo. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
