MANHATTAN - Starting on May 28th, the stilling basin and access to it have been closed for up to 4 months while two construction projects are completed.

Project #1 is a rock overlay(riprap) project, which will include replacing decades-old rock which is used to prevent erosion.

Project #1 is expected to be completed by September, weather-permitting.

Project #2 is a gate liner repair project. This project will replace the steel liner plates below the flood control gates..

Project #2 could take until the end of 2024 to complete.

The west entrance to Tuttle Creek State Park will remain closed during these projects.

The river channel will be dewatered in July, allowing for crews to work in the stilling basin to complete the projects.

The River Pond and State Park will be accessible from the east access point at K-13 and River Pond Road.
