The National Weather Service has put a red flag warning in effect for seven counties including Riley from noon until 9 p.m. Friday. Gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels for fire are mentioned.
Northwest winds sustained near 20 mph with gusts around 30 miles per hour are forecast. Humdity is expected between 17 and 22%.
The highest threat will be located across north central into parts of northeast Kansas.
Potential impacts could include any fires developing will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
