CSM (RET) George S. Bowman, Jr., age 76, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service with full military honors will take place Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Kansas Veteran's Cemetery with Will Ravenstein officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital located at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children located at 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, Missouri 63110.
George served in the United States Army until retirement. After retiring from the service he went on to join the Barton County Community Troop School on Fort Riley, where he taught for several years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. George had many interests and was apart of several organizations to include: The American Legion Post #45, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and The Junction City Elks Lodge #1037.
On September 28, 1996 he went on to marry the love of his life, Elsie J. "Ellie" Hite; George and Ellie married in Junction City where they remained.
Survivors include his loving wife Ellie of Junction City, Kansas; two brothers, Keith (Noel) Bowman of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Sam (Jeanette) Ebey of Virginia; one sister, Robin (Todd) Burkhead of Maryland, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Bowman, Sr., and Grace Ebey; step-parents, Marion Ebey and Jean Bowman; and two brothers, Wayne Ebey and Timmy Bowman.
