Manhattan women reappointed to statewide boards

TOPEKA — Gov. Laura Kelly today announced appointments to the following state boards and committee. 

Board of Accountancy

Purpose: To license and regulate certified public accountants (CPA’s). The Board of Accountancy is a regulatory body authorized to carry out the laws and administrative regulations governing CPA’s. The board is disciplinary and has the authority to conduct investigations.

  1. Aron Dunn, Valley Center
  2. Lucky DeFries, Topeka (reappointment)
  3. Julie Spiegel, Manhattan (reappointment)


State Board of Technical Professions

Purpose:  Registers and licenses engineers, architects, surveyors, and landscape architects.

  1. Wendy Ornelas, Manhattan (reappointment)
  2. John Lilak, Prairie Village (reappointment)


Capitol Preservation Committee

Purpose of Board:  Approve all proposals for renovation of all areas of the state capitol, the capitol's visitor center and the grounds surrounding the capitol; preserve the proper décor; assure art or artistic displays are historically accurate; oversee the reconfiguration or redecoration of committee rooms.
