SSG (RET) David Lee Williams, Sr. 65, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with military honors.
David was born November 24, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Edward Lawrence and Edna Mae (Peters) Williams, Sr.
David joined the Army in 1975 as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. During his service, he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and conducted mechanic support to missions in Korea, Germany, and the United States. David retired after 20 years of federal service in 1995 at Fort Riley, KS where he transitioned to a position as a contractor mechanic.
Dave was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to share his passion with his children and grandchildren. Some of his best memories were spending quality time with his family in the great outdoors. After retirement, his hobbies included gardening, ammo reloading, arms collection, and any activities his grandchildren participated in. He also volunteered time as a civilian marksman training and mentoring kids on weapons safety and marksmanship.
Survivors include his wife Sun of the home in Junction City, KS; one son, David L. Williams, Jr. of Junction City, KS; one daughter, Lisa Williams of Junction City, KS; five grandchildren, Laila, Michael, Isabelle, Greyson and Lilly.
