In loving memory of our adorable mother, Jean Arlene Ball, age 87. Mom, we will miss you immensely. Born on July 30, 1937 ~ August 4, 2024. The daughter of Sherin G. and Mary M. (Walters) Grove of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. A military wife married to SFC Vernon Ball on July 20, 1957, lived in Junction City, Kansas for 46 years.
Jean had various jobs: Nurses Aid, Maternity Nurses Aid, K-mart, Walmart, Alco, Ice Cream Factory, Food-For-Less, Daycare Worker for United Methodist Church and Dollar Tree Cashier for 13 years. She and her husband were members of the United Methodist Church and members of the Masonic Lodge. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star
.Jean was loved dearly by her children and many people in Junction City. She maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. She cared about the needs of others before her own needs. She lived her life as a caregiver. She was such a wonderful, graceful and dignified woman. She enjoyed driving, traveling, dancing, laughing, and diamond painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ball; parents, Sherin and Mary Grove; brother, Gaylord Grove and sister, Shirley Hodges. She is survived by her brother, Jim Grove of Leesburg, Florida; three daughters, Victoria Sayhi of Orlando, Florida, Elaine Head and her husband Donald Head of Texas, Janet White and her husband Tony White of Junction City, Kansas; a son, Duane Ball and his wife Young Ball of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Saschaette Tillier, Nathan Meeks, John Meeks, Jamie Ball, and Matthew Ball, David Ball; two nieces, Robin Leri and Sandy Frazier; and one nephew, Johnny Hodges.
Visitation will be held at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St, Junction City on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Will Ravenstein officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Riley Post Cemetery for a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or your local humane society.
