One hospitalized after fire at a home in Junction City

GEARY COUNTY—Authorities are working to determine the cause of fire at a home in Junction City that sent one person to the hospital.

Just after 5:30a.m.  Tuesday,  the Junction City Fire Department responded to a report of a house on fire at 624 West Third Street, according to a media release.

Dispatch reported that three people were able to evacuate, but one person was still inside of the structure.

According to the Fire Department firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes and reported flames showing on the back side of the residence. The crews were able to initiate fire attack and perform a search and rescue simultaneously. They located and evacuated one person from the residence. The fire was contained to the garage and a small section of the house. The blaze was declared out and salvage and overhaul were initiated.

EMS transported one occupant to a local hospital in stable condition. There were no firefighters injured.
