RILEY COUNTY - Around 5:30pm on Thursday, January 25th, volunteers with the Riley County Fire District #1 were dispatched to the report of a structure fire northwest of Randolph.

When crews arrived at the scene on Winkler Road, they found a mobile home with flames and smoke visible.

One resident was home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. Unfortunately the mobile home was a total loss.

Volunteer crews remained on scene for three hours following the extinguishment of the fire to monitor for hot spots and perform salvage work.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.

“I continue to be impressed by the dedication and commitment shown by our volunteer firefighters,” explained Fire Chief Russel Stukey. “We have a solid group of people who we can count on to show up in any emergency, and their hard work makes Riley County a safer place.”

The owners of the property are listed as Jacob and Caley (Brenner) Gallimore. Donations to help them rebuild can be made at Union State Bank in Randolph or Olsburg or through Venmo: @caley-brenner.
