Kermit Edward Sundgren, age 90 of Leonardville, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
He was born on May 20, 1933, in the Fancy Creek Township in northern Riley County, the son of Alfred Edward and Emma Adina (Carlson) Sundgren.
On July 22, 1956, he married Jessie Carroll at the Walsburg Lutheran Church.
Kermit was a lifelong farmer and lifelong member of the Walsburg Lutheran Church. He served on the church council and was always willing to help with repairs and maintenance at the church. He also served on township boards. He was a great neighbor and friend, willing to help at a moment’s notice.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Sundgren of Leonardville; one son, Roger Sundgren and wife Kathy of Leonardville; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Sundgren of Leonardville and Marla Gammil of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and four grandchildren, Tina Deines, Matthew Sundgren, Shea Sundgren and Katherine Sundgren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Eldon Sundgren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Walsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Kaylie Ines officiating. Burial will be in the Walsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walsburg Lutheran Church Landscaping Fund. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
