RCPD identifies 66-year-old man injured in shooting

MANHATTAN —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting in Riley County.

Just after 3p.m. Monday, officers responded to the report of a gunshot victim on Robyler Road. in Riley County, according to police spokesperson Aaron Wintermote.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 66-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim reported being shot by Larry Wurtz, 69, of Manhattan after an altercation between the two men.

The victim was transported to Via Christ for treatment of his gunshot wounds. Wurtz was also transported to Via Christi for treatment of an unrelated medical issue and then to the Riley County Jail after his release. He is being held in lieu of bond.

Riley County police officers responded late Monday afternoon to a shooting on Roblyer Rd. off Tuttle Creek Blvd. This was an isolated incident.

Police said there was one 66-year-old male gunshot victim who has been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A 69-year-old male suspect known to the victim has been taken into custody without incident.
