On New Year’s Eve night a frightened Riley County driver called the Riley County Police Department to report a vehicle speeding and weaving all over Tuttle Creek Boulevard near Gumbo Hill Road north of Manhattan.

Riley County patrol cars quickly responded to the area and an officer pulled over a 36-year-old male suspect for reckless driving just south of the intersection of Allen Road and Tuttle Creek Boulevard about 9:40 p.m.

The officer approached the vehicle and engaged in an initial conversation with the man, during which the man provided positive identification. When the officer saw suspected marijuana all over the vehicle, the suspect threw the vehicle in gear and raced away.

RCPD followed the suspect into the Casement Road area but soon lost sight. The area was searched but the vehicle was not found. Authorities have a positive identification but are still seeking the suspect.

The situation is still under investigation. The suspect is being sought for possession of marijuana, fleeing or eluding, and interference with a law enforcement officer.
