Gloria Mary Bragga Hunt

Gloria Mary Bragga Hunt, age 96 of Manhattan Kansas passed away August 10, 2022

She was born on February 22, 1926 in Sunnyvale California in Santa Clara County. The daughter of Joseph Veverous Bragga and Phoebe Rose Bragga Rodgers. Her parents came to Sausalito California in 1921 from Massachusetts to manage the El Monte Hotel. Gloria was proud of her Portuguese heritage and enjoyed learning and speaking the language as a child with her grandparents and then again later in life.

On June 19, 1944 in Marion County, San Rafael California she was married to Ivan Ray Hunt. They were married for 60 years and lived in Sausalito California until they moved to Manhattan Kansas in November of 1996 to be near Ivan’s twin sister and family. Gloria met Ivan a fun-loving young man from Tryon Oklahoma during World War II while he was stationed in California serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Gloria grew up in Sausalito California graduated from Tamalpais High School class of 1943. After graduation she went to work for a short time with the New York life Insurance Company of San Francisco. Gloria enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her husband and mother. She had a special love for animals, she enjoyed feeding and caring for all wildlife and domesticated animals that came her way. She was extremely fond of cats and adopted and cared for many over the years. Gloria had a passion and a love for all sports her favorites were baseball, figure skating and rodeo events.

Gloria loved living in her beautiful community in Sausalito she enjoyed everything the lovely countryside had to offer. One of her favorite daily activities was going for long walks with her mother and enjoying the beautiful Sausalito Bay. She always talked about how special it was to live in an area that she could watch the Golden Gate Bridge being built. She would always say “it’s not as long as it looks on TV”, and that her and her mother walked across it several times.

After arriving in Manhattan Kansas, Ivan and Gloria settled into small town living, enjoying family and cheering on the Wildcats. Their favorite activity was going on daily drives in the countryside enjoying all the small communities surrounding the area. They especially enjoyed all the local restaurants and unique shopping. Gloria and Ivan enjoyed checking out every thrift and antique store they came across.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph in 1931 and Phoebe in 1995 and her beloved husband Ivan Hunt on July 17, 2004. Five brother-in-law's Rev. Emery Hunt, Charles Hunt, Rev. CL Moore, Oscar R. Larson Jr. and Paul Cook as well as five sister-in-law's Helen Hunt, Ruth Moore, Iva May Larson, Mary Ellen Cook and Dixie Hunt.

Cremation is planned with a private service. Gloria and her husband Ivan will be reunited and returned to her beloved California area.
