2025 has been a good year for economic development in Manhattan

There have been multiple successful economic development  projects in Manhattan in 2025. Jason Smith, Chamber of Commerce President / CEO reported this week to the City Commission that the 10 projects added 544 new jobs and $46 million in new investment. "Only one of these local projects received job incentives or tax abatements.

Three of the new projects produced 421 of the jobs. They included PTMW, Amazon, Torgenson Electric and in Partnership with Wamego, Solar Turbines. The other six projects involved expansions.

Smith explained that new construction will generate an estimated $600,000 in new property taxes in year one. Annual property tax revenues will be over $2 million per year..

New employees will generate an estimated $7 million in retail sales producing approximately $150,000 annually in sales tax revenues.
