Monique Lenae (Barnes) Angel

Monique Lenae (Barnes) Angel, 47, of Olathe, Kansas, went to rest with her Lord and Savior February 15, 2022, after a brave battle with an acute infection.

Monique was born May 7, 1974, in Manhattan, KS, the daughter of Garry and Linda Sue (Berroth) Barnes. She was raised in Alma, Kansas and graduated from Wabaunsee High School in 1992. She attended Emporia State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Rehabilitation Sciences.

Monique was a devoted wife and mother who loved working with kids and was a valued para-educator with Olathe Public Schools. She attended Divine Mercy Parish in Gardner, Kansas. She loved reading Nicholas Sparks novels and taking care of her dog Hunter.

On February 14th, 1998, she was united in marriage to Jerry Angel in Paxico. She was mother to Madison Angel and Larry Noah Angel. She is survived by her husband and children; her brother, Tyson Barnes (Yuma, AZ) and niece Allie Barnes; her brothers-in-law, Aaron Angel (Kansas City, KS) and Michael (Jennifer) Angel (Ark City, KS) and nieces Alexis and Shannon Angel; her in-laws, Thomas and Delores Angel (Phoenix, AZ). She is also survived by her stepmother Linda Barnes, as well as her stepbrothers Chad, Jimmy, Troy and stepsister, Kelly and their spouses and children. Monique is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Swede Anderson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, February 28, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury, Kansas, north of Paxico. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends, at the church, on Sunday February 27th, from 5pm until 7pm. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7pm. The family would appreciate people donating blood and plasma in Monique’s memory or making contributions to the Community Blood Center or Red Cross.
