Marcella Witt (Henkins), age 79, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
She was born September 22, 1943, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Phyllis (Guinn) Henkins. She moved to Kansas and married her husband, John Witt on December 30, 1966. She was the mother of four girls and worked on the family farm. She later worked at Chapman Valley Manor as a certified nurse’s aide and enjoyed taking care of and helping others. Marcella was a fan of Elvis and enjoyed bowling and bingo. In her retirement she enjoyed going to the casino with her husband and family and watching game shows and investigative documentaries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond and Burton Henkins, sister, Theresa Baker, and daughters, Shelly and Dawn Witt.
She was survived by husband, John Witt of Junction City, sister, Bernadine (Gary) Clark, brother, Joseph (Tricia) Henkins, two daughters, Angie (Will) Shores and Rhonda (Brandon) Witt, three grandchildren, Aaron Witt, Annalise Witt and Hunter Shores, and two great-grandchildren, Lily and Annabeth Witt.
The family is respecting Marcella’s wishes for no public services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Accord Hospice & Palliative Care, Manhattan, Kansas. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
