Fire in rural Riley County destroys Shop building and contents

An early Sunday morning fire at 3787 High Plains ranch in Riley County caused approximately $300,000 damage, and in the process destroyed a 50 by 70 shop building and its contents. There were no injuries.

According to Riley County Fire Chief Pat Collins when Fire District #1 responded to a reported structure fire at 12:41 a.m.Sunday they found the shop building fully involved. A total of 28 volunteer fire personnel from six stations responded in to 10 fire vehicles. It took several house to bring the blaze under control while the fire district had to haul more than 14,000 gallons of water to the scene. 

The property is owned by Greg Roles of the same address. The fire appears to have been started by fireworks.
