H. Carol "Bobbi" Davis, 89, of Junction City, Kansas died Monday, February 12, 2024 at Northcare Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bobbi was born on December 10, 1934 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Thomas Johnathon and Hetty M. (Reed) Moore. She was the fourth of six children (four sisters and a brother). After Bobbi’s father passed February 28, 1941 at the VA Hospital in Laramie Wyoming, the family moved to Merna, Nebraska for two years, and then settled in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Bobbi attended Junior and Senior High School there, graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1953.
After graduating from high school, while working at the Broken Bow Arrow Hotel, Bobbi met Cameron Davis, a young Army Paratrooper home on leave. They were married on January 25, 1955. Bobbi and Cameron spent their honeymoon traveling to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina for her first experience with Army life. After overseeing the care of her mother, Hetty, during her final years, Bobbi’s mother passed away on March 19, 1994 in Junction City, Kansas. Bobbi and Cameron spent 30 years and two months as an Army couple raising three sons, all of whom joined in the family tradition of military service. She experienced Army family separations while Cameron served in Iceland, Korea and Vietnam as well as exercises and Temporary Duty requirements. Together they traveled the across the country and overseas, living in North Carolina, Colorado, Alabama, Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois and Germany.
In her later years, Bobbi helped setup, clerk and assisted in evaluating antique glassware for an auction service in Junction City. Bobbi never had a separate career of her own but she held several jobs. From running a hospital administration office, to department store sales clerk to numerous volunteer positions assisting on-post Soldier Support activities and even Chief of International Money Transfers at a major bank, she excelled at everything she did. Bobbi and Cameron retired from the Army in 1983, finally settling in Junction City, Kansas where they lived 42 years.
Bobbi is survived by her husband of 69 years, Cameron; her sister, Sharon (Moore) Johnson; three sons and their wives; Charles and Sharon, Mark and Marti, and Dan and Linda; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren
.The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Johnson Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street Junction City, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held in memory of Bobbi at 11:30 a.m. on February 21, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church, 804 N. Jefferson Street, Junction City, Kansas. Following at 1:00 p.m. will be an inurnment ceremony at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road Manhattan, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to be given to the Friends of Animals, Inc. of Junction City, Kansas or to the Junction City First United Methodist Church.
