KDOT release
This initial phase will include grading work on the west project and culvert extension on the east project. Traffic impacts should be minimal to none.
Phase 2 is expected to begin in March, conditions permitting. Work will mostly consist of constructing temporary shoulder widenings, crossovers and shoo-fly detours that will be used to carry traffic through the project areas. Traffic will be maintained on all roadways; however, some areas will be reduced to one lane and/or shifted outside of the driving lane. Traffic control and signage will be in place to direct and alert motorists.
Phase 3 is anticipated to begin in mid-April, conditions permitting. This phase will require U.S. 24 between K-13 and K-113 to fully close until December. Access to properties in the closure area will be maintained. Additional traffic information will be provided in advance.
Ebert Construction Co., of Wamego, is the prime contractor on the combined $8.5 million projects, which are expected to be complete in summer 2026.
