Brenda J. Platt, aged 70, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, in Manhattan, KS, after a 16-year battle with breast cancer. She was born on Nov. 19, 1953, to parents Crawford and Dorene Taylor in Westmoreland, KS.
Brenda graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1971. A year later, on Jul. 1, 1972, she went on to marry Riley L. Platt at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Flush, KS. Together, they shared a union for 51 years. Brenda was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 40-plus years. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her hobbies consisted of gardening and quilting. Brenda loved to get together with the Quilting Ladies over in Ogden, KS.
Brenda is survived by her husband Riley, Manhattan, KS; 2 daughters, Sara LeAnn Polansky (Adam), Belleville, KS and Kimberly Ann Suther (Matt), Manhattan, KS; 2 brothers, Bernie Taylor (Carla), Houston, MO, Buzz Taylor (Linda), Frankfort, KS; a sister, Beth Brunkow, Wamego, KS; and five grandchildren, AJ, Ayden, Evelyn, Cordell and Leia.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Crawford and Dorene, and a son, Benjamin Riley Platt.
There will be a visitation held from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, Feb 10, 2024, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, Manhattan, KS
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
