MANHATTAN - Last week firefighters from Manhattan Fire Department completed Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting(ARFF) training.
ARFF training is completed annually to certify firefighters in the appropriate fire fighting techniques needed to combat fires that occur on or around aircraft.
Crews took turns fighting fires on a training aircraft shell both from the ground and from the ARFF fire trucks.
ARFF Training is required by the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA).
Training services were provided by Mobile Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Trainer from the University of Missouri Extension, Fire, and Rescue Training Institute.
