There have been a total of 89 positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie County since the pandemic began. County officials reported on Friday that six cases are active and 83 patients have recovered. A total of 36 cases are pending, and there are no hospitalizations.
Pottawatomie County Health Order No. 7 provides citizens the opportunity to decide in most cases whether or not to wear a mask. Businesses may require them for employees and customers. Also, the City of Manhattan has approved an ordinance requiring masks within the City limits when social distancing cannot be maintained.
The order does state that the guidelines are "recommended and encouraged" including the wearing of a mask.
