Author Roxie Yonkey will be signing her best-selling book "100 Things to Do in Kansas Before You Die" at the Flint Hills Discovery Center, 315 S. Third, Manhattan, from 1-4 p.m. on November 5. Buy a book at the discovery center or ahead of time at RoxieontheRoad.com/Shop.
Yonkey’s favorite Manhattan attraction is a toss-up between No. 7 Aggieville and No. 59 Konza Prairie.
“I’m very glad that I didn’t have to rank my favorites from 1-100,” she said. Instead, the book is divided into categories, Food and Drink, Music and Entertainment, Sports and Recreation, Culture and History, Shopping and Fashion. Kansas State University’s farm-to-fork destination Call Hall Dairy Bar ranks ahead of Aggieville at No. 6. K-State athletics is listed as No. 43. The Discovery Center appears with Konza Prairie. Many other Manhattan destinations also appear in the book.
Yonkey has been writing about Kansas for over 30 years. The book "100 Things to Do in Kansas Before You Die" is her second book. In 2020, she co-authored "Midwest Road Trip Adventures" that includes road trip guides for all 12 Midwest states. Yonkey wrote the Kansas chapter and the Black Hills section of the South Dakota chapter.
Additional signings are scheduled throughout the state. Check the schedule at RoxieontheRoad.com/signings.
We hope to see you at the Flint Hills Discovery Center on November 5.
