RCPD investigates 2 more truck thefts in Manhattan

RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a pair of vehicle thefts in Manhattan.

Just before 7p.m. Jan. 14, officers filed a report for theft in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Road in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

A 20-year-old man reported an unknown suspect stole his brown 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $6,500. 

Just after 3:30a.m. Jan. 16, officers filed a report for theft, criminal damage to property, and burglary in the 1500 block of College Avenue in Manhattan.  A 19-year-old man  reported an unknown suspect stole his white 2002 Chevrolet 1500 truck.

The truck was later recovered with a damaged window and steering column, and a Taurus 9mm handgun stolen from it.

The estimated total loss associated with this case is still being determined at this time.
