Robert Dean Gott, 95, of Manhattan, passed away Monday evening, August 16th, at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community. Bob worked for Southwestern Bell "Ma Bell" as a lineman and repeaterman until his retirement in 1984.

Robert "Bob" Gott was born in Topeka, on March 17, 1926, the son of the late Arletta Myrtle (Yocum) and Keith Loren Gott. He attended Highland Park schools in Topeka. Bob joined the US Navy, where he received his GED, and was stationed on the USN SC536 (Sub Chaser) during WWII. He was married on Aug 25, 1947 in Alma, KS to Betty Lou Diel.

During his retirement he played many rounds of golf at Stagg Hill Golf course where he volunteered with renovations of the clubhouse, he was a ticket taker for KSU football games, enjoyed Wildcat basketball, and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Bob was a member of the Elks, American Legion and the VFW where he was a lifetime member.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty of almost 74 years; daughters Vicki (Bruce) Yarnell of Shawnee and Robin (Steve) Beckley of Atwood, Kansas; and a son, Mike Gott of Gardner. Also surviving is a sister, Donna Hayek, of Topeka; three grandchildren, Jason Beckley, Shelly Beckley, Kori Beckley Rawls; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn Yarnell, Cash Beckley, Dylan Beckley, Lucas Southard, and Resa Lou Southard.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Brandy Yarnell Menzel, four siblings Pauline Webb, Kenneth Gott, Glen Gott, and an infant brother Roland Gott.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 21st at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. A public visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m.  Friday, August 20th at Carlson's Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, KS.
