William H. 'Bill' Meyers

William H. “Bill” Meyers of Lake Wales, Fla., passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale.

He was born February 5, 1939, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Glen and Sylvia Meyers; he moved to Lake Wales from Ohio in 2002. Bill was a retired welder for the Department of Defense and Tropicana. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and of the Baptist faith. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, and American Legion in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Bill was a past referee for high school football and basketball and college basketball. He enjoyed traveling and dancing, especially the jitterbug.

Bill was proceeded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sara Meyers; daughters, Sylvia Lewis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paula Moseley and husband Troy of Junction City, Kansas; step-daughter, Jan Corrin of Charlottsville, Virginia; sister, Hazeldean Meyers of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sharon for her loving care.

No services are scheduled at this time. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice (www.chaptershealth.org).
