False alarm reported for JCHS

Posted Oct 27, 2021 5:51 PM

Junction City Police Department officials said Wednesday that they have been working closely with USD 475 staff in regards to an alleged threat against JCHS made over social media Wednesday. It has been determined that the threat was not directed at Junction City High School but a different high-school in another state. JCPD is in contact with that agency and they are aware of the situation.

Police Chief John Lamb told JC Post that it was an unsubstantiated threat from a student that formerly lived in Junction City  but has moved out of state.  It was in reference to a high school that they attend in another state.

"We reached out to USD 475 to start making them aware of it, started putting precautions in place to make sure that everybody was aware and contacted that agency in that state and they were also aware of it to ensure that they were taking necessary precautions." No injuries have been reported.

Lamb said that there is no danger to Junction City High School students and staff, and authorities worked collectively with USD 475 to ensure necessary precautions were taken.
