Sharon Ann Cross, 75, was called home after a battle with cancer on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
Sharon was born March 16, 1947, in Herington, Kansas, to Charles W. and Alice Mae (Diepenbrock) Dittman. She grew up in the Hope, Kansas, area and attended Hope schools. She graduated from Hope High School in 1965 and continued her education at Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina. On April 9, 1966, she married the love of her life, Clifford Jon Cross, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek, rural Herington, Kansas. They have been enjoying life together for the last 56 years.
Sharon worked for Home Health through the State of Kansas for many years providing helpful and loving care for all her clients. Sharon and CJ always put family first. They were at every activity and celebration for their children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed being a youth group leader, planting flowers, serving her church, and traveling the United States setting up book stands at conventions for Concordia Publishing House.
Survivors include her husband, Cliff “CJ” of the home; their children, Jennifer and Darren Tiers, of Clay Center, Tim and Jennifer Cross of Solomon, and Elesa and Justin Parsons, of El Dorado. Also survived by her grandchildren, Chelsea Deges (Ian), Shelby Turner (Trenton), Morgan Talbert, Brody Bryant, Jacob Tiers, Kylie Bryant, Lauren Wilson (Kevin), Shaelynn Cross (Fiancé, Dawson), Allison Cross, Jake Tole, Mallory Parsons, Cody Tole, Macy Parsons, and Graydon Parsons; great grandchildren, Ava Talbert, Taylynne Turner, Koy Byrd and Baby Wilson, due in May. Other survivors include her brother, Duane Dittman (Brenda) of Lincolnville; sister, Janice Fenske (John) of Park City; sister, Charlotte Schultz (Jim) of Hope; sister-in-law, Diana Dittman, of Hope; uncle, Dale Diepenbrock (Marlyn) of Herington; aunt, Emmy Diepenbrock of Herington; along with many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Mae Dittman; sister, Carolyn Dittman; brother, Gerald Dittman; and uncle, Roy Diepenbrock.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, March 16, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, at 11:00 am at the church.
Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Herington, Kansas at 2:00 pm.
