Sherrie Elizabeth “Beth” Horn, age 53, of Manhattan, died January 19, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born January 25, 1970, in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Larry James Horn and Nina Clare Gamotis.
Sherrie served for 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Following her retirement, she worked for LEIDOS, a private contractor for the Dept. of Defense.
Beth loved photography and scrapbooking and was an avid outdoorsman including camping, kayaking and everything outdoors.
She was a very devoted member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Survivors include her mother Nina Gamotis-Middleton and her husband Coy of Manhattan; her father Larry Horn of Huntington Beach, CA; her daughter Victoria Figuero of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters: Kerrie Olson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jennifer Mulvey of Brea, CA; one aunt Anita Bauman and her husband Ronald of Vancouver, WA; four uncles: Glenn Gamotis of Bicster, Oxen, England, Frank Gamotis of Graham, WA, Wayne Gamotis of Durham, NC, and Arthur Gamotis of Annadale, VA; family by choice Harmony and Bryce Masters of Houston, TX; and numerous cousins.
Sherrie was preceded in death by two uncles: Roland and James Gamotis.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 29th, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Frank Coady as Celebrant. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Virginia.
