Robert E. (Bob) Johnston, age 75, of Manhattan, passed away on March 29, 2024 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.
He was born on June 25, 1948 in Norman, Oklahoma, the son of James and Dorothy (Lang) Johnston. Bob had served several years in the Air Force in California. He also graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor in History. He also worked at Ft. Riley Irwin Army Hospital in the Food Service area. He also worked at the Manhattan Public Library re-shelving books.
He loved all kinds of trains, especially the Chessie system his grandpa in Virginia worked on. He could tell you anything and everything about any train ever. He loved collecting model trains and had at least one set up all the time.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Dorothy Johnston.
Bob is survived by his brother Mike Johnston and his wife Jean, his nephew Kenny Johnston and his wife Bridgette and their children Abby and Charlie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2024 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
