This week the Kansas Department of Transportation has begun efforts to reopen I-70 through Junction City for unrestricted winter travel.

Due to unexpected work, motorists should anticipate construction on I-70 in Junction City to resume in mid-March 2026. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and carried through the construction zone.

Wildcat Construction Co., of Wichita, is the prime contractor of this multi-phase, $30 million project and has scheduled all project work to be completed by June 2026, conditions permitting.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. For more information on the project, visit ksdot.gov/projects/i-70-pavement-replacement-in-junction-city.
