James E. "Jim" Norris

SFC (RET) James E. "Jim" Norris, 81, of Junction City, Kansas died on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.

Cremation will take place. A graveside service with full military honors will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Jim was born May 2, 1943, in Villa Ridge, Illinois the son of Henry and Addie (Mae) Bettes Norris.

Jim served nearly twenty three years in the United States Army until his retirement. He served two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He worked the Phoenix Transit driving a bus. He later moved back to Junction City and worked for the City of Junction City in the waste water division.

Jim loved to walk. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino. He liked traveling and exploring new places. He enjoyed being with family.

On September 16, 1974, he married Gwen Armstrong in Cairo, Illinois.

Survivors include his wife Gwen of Junction City, Kansas; one son, Kevin Armstrong of Junction City, Kansas; one daughter, Gina Degnan and her husband Tony of Holiday Island, Arkansas; one grandson, Chase Degnan of Holiday Island, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Tori Hornberger of Junction City, Kansas and Madison Austin and her husband Josh of Wichita, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Mari Loving and Matthew Herzog; three brothers, Lloyd, Ernie and Richard Norris.
