Sheron L. Swearingen, age 75, of Blue Rapids, passed away in Manhattan after a short illness on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Sheron was born April 30, 1949, at Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles W. and Margaret “Mickie” (Jopling) Dixon. She spent most of her childhood living in Lake Latawana, Missouri. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School. She was married to Rankin “Rank” Swearingen at their home outside Blue Rapids in 1992. He passed away in 2019.
Right after high school Sheron went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, first in Kansas City, Kansas and then transferred to Marysville in 1985. Her last job at the railroad was as an Engineer. She retired from the Union Pacific after twenty-six years of work so she could be home more. She then worked for Titan Trailer Manufacturing in paint repair until her retirement. Looking for something to do, she worked the donut shift at Casey’s part time, until totally retiring.
Some of her favorite memories included, time with family, Thanksgiving and swimming. The times she traveled with Dan to Scotland and Ireland, ____ Republic, Puerto Vallarta, and Costa Rica, and their first trip which was to Hawaii. Float trips each summer with Dan,____ and Buffy. One on one time with the grandkids, and her many hobbies.
Survivors include her son Dan M Engle of Manhattan, daughters Amber Swearingen of Blue Rapids and Jackie Swearingen of Wymore, Nebraska, six grandchildren: Zoe’, Rylee, Ashlynne, Blaise, Ryker and Maverick Rankin, a brother Mike Dixon of Axtell and a sister Shannon (Shawn) Huffman of Wymore, Nebraska.
Preceding Sheron in death were her husband Rank, parents Charles and Mickie, and a brother Bradley Meade.
Respect calls will be from noon to 8:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2024, with a visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home, Waterville.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids, with Mr. Rod Christie officiating. Special recorded music will be “God Bless The Broken Road”. Casket Bearers are to include: Dan Engle, Jeff Nelson, Cassidy Dixon, Mike Dixon, Andy Peregrine and Shawn Huffman. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
