Manhattan Fire Department responds to vehicle fire

MANHATAN — At 4:04 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the Manhattan Fire Department reported firefighters were dispatched to 130 Sarber Lane, East Dillions, for a report of a smell of smoke outside the building. Shortly after arrival on Sarber Lane, crews were redirected to a report of a vehicle fire at 6th and Fair Lane.

Crews arrived at A&M Auto Repair, located at 700 South 6th St., and found two vehicles on fire in the lot.  The fire was contained within 10 minutes and there were no injuries reported. A total of 10 firefighters responded on 2 fire trucks with the last units clearing at around 8:00 a.m.

A total of seven vehicles sustained damage from the fire.  The estimated loss of all the vehicles is $16,160 to the vehicles and $3,000 to the contents.  The fire cause is under investigation at this time.
