Helen L. Wheeler, 91, of Louisville, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Wamego Health Center.
Born July 22, 1931, in White City, Kansas, Helen was the daughter of Ephriam and Gladys Jane (Hebrew) Blankley. She married Clyde LaVere Wheeler on January 4, 1950, at Fort Riley, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2009.
Helen had attended Louisville Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crocheting and plastic canvas projects. She and Clyde enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Helen never met a stranger and loved every baby she saw. She was devoted to her family and especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had previously been employed at the Kreem Kup, Wamego Floral Greenhouse and Gurdan Industries where she was an electrician. She retired after many years as a sales clerk for Vanderbuilt’s in Wamego.
Survivors include four children, Marla Hieger of Wamego, Duane Wheeler (Kandi) of Louisville, KS, Gary Wheeler of Concordia, KS and Michael Wheeler of Louisville, KS; twelve grandchildren, Tony Hieger (Melissa Johnson), Jim Hieger (Karla Eigenman), Marla Kay Hieger, Jeanna Duncan (Mike), Bryson Wheeler (Kristen), Tracy Hendricks (Toby), T. J. Bullock (Amanda), Jeff Bullock, Keith Bullock, Jason Wheeler, Jamie Wheeler (Lorisa) and Meagen Wheeler; fifteen great grandchildren, Levi Hieger-Eigenman, Cody Duncan, Miah Wheeler, Riyan Wheeler, Taygen Wheeler, Taizly Hendricks, Taylon Hendricks, Nathan Bullock, Shayann Bullock, Nina Bullock, Nevaeh Bullock, Grant Bullock, Arabella Bullock, Paige Wheeler, Lauren Wheeler and Clyde Wheeler; a brother, John Blankley (Billie) of Manhattan, KS; a sister in law, Joyce Wheeler of Wenatchie, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2023, at 2:00 at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Leslie Haller officiating. Burial will be in the Louisville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
