Julie A. Hutson, age 56, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort.
Julie was born September 22, 1966, in Marysville, the daughter of Donald D. and Claudia J. (Brooks) Atkinson. She graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1986, then went on to complete Cosmetology School. She married Gary A. Hutson on July 4, 1991, in Scottsmoor, Florida.
Julie started her career as a hairdresser then after moving back to Kansas, she began driving School Buses and working as a custodian at local schools. She had worked at the Valley Heights School District for 22 years.
Julie really enjoyed driving a school bus. She loved the kids that rode the bus, the drive through the country, and the sunrises and the sunsets she experienced. She also loved country cruising with her family. She enjoyed making signs and home decor. She also loved cooking, especially when she could do it with her sons. She will be remembered for her good will and her sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband Gary, her mom Claudia Atkinson, her three sons: Gary (Emily) Hutson, II, Greg Hutson and Gabe Hutson and his fiancé Sarah, all of Blue Rapids, two sisters: Donna (Frank) Weiss of Beatrice and Sarah (James) Welch of Blue Rapids, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and a nephew.
Preceding Julie in death was her dad, Donald Atkinson.
The viewing will be from noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church with Pastor Berniece Ludlum officiating. “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden” will be sung by the congregation, accompanied by Althea Wertz. Casket Bearers are: Gary Hutson, Greg Hutson, Gabe Hutson, Nathan Kurtz, Ryan Smith and Curtis Underwood. Honorary Bearers are Chaney Weiss and Remi Weiss. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5.30 p.m., Friday, December 9th, at the 4-H Building in Blue Rapids.
