Geary County Sheriff's authorities are searching for a suspect in a pursuit that  began late Tuesday night in Junction City.

According to Sheriff's Department Administrative Captain David Gilbert, the JCPD attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 in the 1800 block of North Jackson Street for failure to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle failed to stop and led the officer on a pursuit.

Geary County Sheriff's Deputies took over command of the pursuit  a short time after the vehicle left the city limits and turned north on U.S. 77 Highway. The Ford F-150  continued to lead Deputies on a pursuit prior to wrecking on Hickok Drive. The driver of the vehicle fled the area on foot.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating the case and has asked anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Office at 785-238-2261.
