Opal I Dalton, age 89, years, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was born December 9, 1934, the daughter of Jesse and Helen (Adolph) Thompson. She attended grade school in Alida and graduated from DCCHS in 1953. She married Wayne E. Dalton in 1954.Opal worked for Montgomery Wards for 12 years. She worked for civil service in finance for 16 years.
Opal was very talented. She was an amazing seamstress making clothes for her family. She made and sold crafts and had Dalton’s Upholstery with the help of her husband. She enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. Her family was most important to her. She loved gatherings with her sisters and their families and spending time with or talking to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Janet Lowrey (Mike) of Chapman, Carolyn Howard (Milton) of Junction City, son Danny Dalton of Bremerton, Washington, grandchildren Brandon Lowrey (Kris) of Oley, Pennsylvania, Daphne Anderson (Jeff) New Market, Alabama, Kurtis Howard (Julie) California, Missouri, Kelly Heindel (Dennis) of Milford, Chris Dalton of Seattle, Washington, Daniel Dalton, Robert Dalton, Greg Dalton all of Bremerton, Washington, eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, sisters Edna Liccardi of Chapman, Lois Currie of Junction City, LaVera Heidel of Junction City, and Phyllis Serrault of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Derrald Dalton.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chapman Senior Center and may be sent in care of the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411 Chapman, Kansas 67431.
