UPDATE:

Francis A. Vering, age 90, of Marysville, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Francis was born on August 9, 1933, in Marysville.  He is the son of Antone A. and Mary A. (Wassenberg) Vering.  He graduated from Marysville High School in 1950, and then served in the Kansas Army National Guard while farming.  Francis married Constance “Connie” Claeys on August 19, 1967, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Marysville.

As a young boy, Francis was highly involved in helping his mother and siblings with farm work and demonstrated a hard work ethic throughout his lifetime.  He loved his family, farming, and working with a variety of animals. 

He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Marysville.  He had been a member of the American Legion for many of years.

Survivors include his wife Connie, his four children: Denise Liebetrau of Lakewood, Colorado, Alan (Heather) Vering of Waverly, Iowa, Steve Vering of Marysville, and Susan (Matt) Lord of Lawrence, two sisters: Cynthia Schuppert of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Colross of York, Pennsylvania, seven grandchildren and a sister-in-law Carol Vering of Manhattan.

Preceding Francis in death were his parents, a brother Ferdinand “Buster” Vering, a sister Loretta Smith, and a son-in-law Keith Liebetrau.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Marysville celebrated by Father Quentin Schmitz.  Honorary Bearers are Peter Vering, Katie Vering, Emily Vering, Ava Liebetrau, Ben Liebetrau, Jonas Lord and Estelle Lord. Military Honors will be provided by an Honors Detail from the Kansas Army National Guard.  A private inurnment at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Cemetery will follow later.
