Betty M. Volz, 94, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Reflections Living of Dodge City.
She was born December 1, 1927, at Wamego, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Albert and Clara (McKown) Tanner. She moved to Dodge City in August 1946 from Wamego, and from 1946 to 1957 worked as a billing clerk for Kansas Power and Light. On November 8, 1952, she married William “Bill” Volz at St. Mary, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2012.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Altar Society in Dodge City as well as numerous card clubs.
Survivors include: her son, Tim Volz and wife Jackie, Dodge City; her daughter, Tama Hanson and husband Lynn, Pawnee Rock; 4 grandchildren, Kylie Keller and husband Kevin, Brooks Hanson and fiancé Meghann Winkler, Dustin Volz and wife Natalie and Brandon Volz and wife Sydney; and 3 great grandchildren, Vail Volz, Miles Volz and Brexley Volz.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, 8 brothers, Wilber, John William, Ronald, Dale, Argel, Harold, Charles and Darrell Tanner and 4 sisters, Alice Davenport, Mary Turner, Lucille Frazier and Dorothy Judy.
Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Rudin Din presiding. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
