Bridge replacement project will require some traffic adjustments

Replacement of the Fort Riley Boulevard bridge ( K-18 ) over Wildcat Creek will cause some traffic headaches for awhile. The City of Manhattan issued a statement saying the KDOT project will be a good idea to find an alternate route, especially during the peak traffic times of 8 a.m., noon and 5 p.m.

The good news is that the project will benefit the community in the replacement of an aging bridge structure, will add length to turn lanes to prevent future traffic backups, and add a 10-foot wide multi-use path on the north side of K-18 for safer pedestrian and bike access.

Ninety percent of the cost is being funded by KDOT. The new structure is expected to last for the next 75 years.
