Recognition and thank you for Riley County EMS employees

Posted May 21, 2020 6:03 PM

A message from Director David Adams and Assistant Director Josh Gering to Riley County EMS employees:

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized the first EMS Week in recognition of the efforts of EMS providers in communities across the United States. This year marks the 46th annual week of celebration and recognition. Unfortunately, with the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, we find ourselves in a unique situation which limits our ability to celebrate or recognize your efforts the way we’d like to. In place of a department celebration or gifts, David and I hope this letter adequately conveys our appreciation to each of you. Further, we chose to post this letter of gratitude publicly in hopes that the community members who view our page will join us in recognizing you for the work you do.

Since the Stay at Home Orders were issued and most people began a new and necessary routine of isolation and limiting their interactions with others, you all continued to venture out and answer calls for help in Riley County. While the community you serve embraced social distancing, you responded to and personally cared for nearly 800 strangers who needed you. You answered those calls without hesitation and with a type of kindness many find difficult to muster during this trying time. Each of you should be commended for your efforts.

Finally, although the Coronavirus Pandemic brought with it a measure of stress for us as administrators, we trusted you all were up to the task and knew you’d continue to fulfill the RCEMS mission with compassion, professionalism, and integrity.

We’re proud of you. Thanks for all you’ve done and continue to do.

Happy EMS Week!
