Health Officer issues statement on the recent death of a COVID-19 patient

One person from Riley County died this week from COVID-19 related problems. According to health officials the man in his 30's sought help for an underlying condition and then tested positive for COVID-19.

Wednesday, Health Officer Julie Gibbs, issued a statement concerning the death of the resident. "He remained in isolation at Via Christi Hospital for several days before being transferred to a hospital in Wichita last week. Our hearts go out to his friends and family. Please know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time. On behalf of Riley County, our deepest condolences are with you."

As of Wednesday there had been a total of 59 positive COVID-19 cases in Riley County.
