Fort Riley welcomes 98 new Soldiers assigned to the 1st Infantry Division with a Patching Ceremony on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at Camp Funston.
The Army said the newly arrived Soldiers will receive their 1st Infantry Div. patches and join their units after completing a restriction of movement at Camp Funston. Soldiers are currently housed at Camp Funston for 14 days as part of the effort to protect the force and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
During the 14-day period, instructors from the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team led the Soldiers in physical training and taught warrior tasks in line with the effort to preserve readiness.
The new Soldier recently arrived from Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Sam Houston, Texas, having completed basic training and advanced individual training.
