There will be a step approach plan to reopening Riley County from COVID-19. Health Officer Julie Gibbs said it will be depend on action taken by the Governor and on the situation in the county and within the region. "We are following guidelines from a few different sources as well as gaining input from our clinical task force and other county and city partners. This will be a trickle effect opening with many safeguards in place if that decision comes down to local authorities."
Gibbs said the community's health and safety is the first priority. She noted that all phases of the reopening would last at least 14 days.
If the governor stay at home order expires May 3rd it would be at least 14 days after that before there would be a loosening of restrictions in Riley County. "We would have our own version of a stay at home order in place with our own safeguards in place and yes every phase that we will go through will last at least 14 days. We will open a little at a time. Like I mentioned it will be a trickle effect."
