Riley County Health Officer Julie Gibbs said Monday that officials have confirmed an alternate care site for COVID-19 patient treatment if it is needed.

Gibbs stated the alternate care site would be used for medical provider quarantine, skilled nursing unit, a respiratory clinic and as a swabbing site." In the meantime drive up swabbing is being provided at the Health Department. "Since we are doing so well in the county as far as staying inside to reduce risk of exposure we haven't needed to activate the alternate care site."

Gibbs said there are triggers that have been put in place to activate the ACS but hopefully it will not be needed.
