Update: Suspect in Manhattan shooting remains jailed on $35K bond

MANHATTAN —Officers have filed a report for aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm near North 12th Street and Bluemont Avenue, according to the RCPD activity report.

Just before 4:30 PM. Officers listed a 32-year-old man as the victim when he reported a known male suspect identified as 36-year-old Lamarques Channel, 36, Manhattan, discharged a firearm during an argument.

Police arrested Channel on requested charges of aggravated assault, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon by felon and possession of marijuana.

Channel remains jailed on a bond of $35,000.00, according to the RCPD.

Riley County police said Friday that the Police Emergency Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls about 4:20 p.m. reporting a single shot fired near Aggieville.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Bluemont and through an initial investigation determined no one was injured. A suspect is in custody. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
