POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY — Two drivers avoided serious injury in an accident just before 9a.m. Thursday in Pottawatomie County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Mazda RX8 driven by Joseph Robert Awerkamp, 21, St. Marys, was eastbound on U.S. 24 at Onaga Road.
The driver lost control of the vehicle on the wet road. It slid across the road and struck a westbound 1996 Buick Century driven by Fleming, Kevin L. Fleming, 59, St. Marys, head-on.
Fleming was checked by EMS for minor cuts and refused transport. Awerkamp was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
